TALLINN - Textbook publisher Koolibri has released Estonia's first digital textbook, which will be used to teach science to first graders, Estonian national broadcasting corporation reports referring to ETV.

Based on the paperback version, the textbook has interactive features like recorded animal and bird sounds and the possibility for coloring pictures, which should be very attractive to the pupils.

The first e-book will soon be followed by others for the fourth and seventh grades. The books can be downloaded from the Apple Bookstore.

Koolibri editor Kadri Haljamaa emphasizes that digital textbooks raise interest in schoolchildren.

“The students found great joy in dragging the answers, touching and viewing video clips,” said Haljamaa.
