RIGA - Latvia could mark Ethnic Minority Days, which will not affect the country's holidays and remembrance days, Primez Minister Valdis Dombrovskis' (Unity) advisor on national identity, civic society and integration matters Sarmite Elerte (Unity) announced during today's session of the Saeima Social Cohesion Committee.

The proposed motion and other public integration activities could be reviewed by the government next week.

If the government allocates funds, the first Ethnic Minority Days could be held this fall. Various ethnic minority ensembles and world famous Latvia-born artists could perform during the event.

The role of ethnic minorities and other matters could be discussed during a conference, which could also be held during Ethnic Minority Days so that they would be "a series of events and not just a concert."
