RE-MATCH: The Latvian team is looking forward to its opening game against Russia, against whom it has been playing well.
RIGA - The Latvian men’s hockey team has created history in their build-up to the 2012 IIHF World Championships, keeping a clean slate against Russia for the first time ever. Hosting their neighbors for a two-match series over the weekend, the historic achievement came on Saturday in the second of two match-ups as Edgars Masalskis ended the night with his 10th shutout in national team colors, rendering Gints Meija’s 11th minute goal the game winner.
