Baltics have EU's lowest life expectancies after the age of 65

RIGA - The life expectancy of Latvian residents after the age of 65 is one of the lowest in the European Union, according to Eurostat calculations using data from 2010. Lithuania and Estonia also registered one of the lowest life expectancies in the EU after the age of 65.

The average life expectancy for females in Latvia after the age of 65 is 18.2 years, which is the fourth lowest in the European Union. On the other hand, the average life expectancy for males in Latvia after the age of 65 is 13.3 years, which is the lowest level in the EU, informs LETA.

The average life expectancy for females in Lithuania after the age of 65 is 18.4 years, which is the sixth lowest in the EU. On the other hand, the average life expectancy for males in Lithuania after the age of 65 is 13.5 years, which is the second lowest level in the EU.

The average life expectancy for females in Estonia after the age of 65 is 19.4 years, which is the eighth lowest in the EU On the other hand, the average life expectancy for males in Estonia after the age of 65 is 14.2 years, which is the seventh lowest level in the EU.

Residents of France have the highest life expectancy after the age of 65 – 23.4 years for females, and 18.9 years for males.

The average life expectancy for females in the EU after the age of 65 is 21 years, but for males – 17.4 years.
