SEA director suspended

RIGA - Director of the State Employment Agency (SEA) Baiba Pasevica has been suspended from her job pending a disciplinary investigation into the deficit seen in the agency's salaries total, reports LETA.

Welfare Minister Ilze Vinkele told the press on Jan. 11 that it was expected this year that employees would face a 20-200 lats (28 – 285 euros) salary cut, but even if this is done, there would still be a deficit of 188,000 lats.

Vinkele underlined that SEA’s salary fund is exactly the same as last year, therefore it is unclear why Pasevica has decided to cut salaries, and what's behind the deficit.
