TALLINN -- Estonia has granted political asylum to prominent Russian musician and blogger Savva Terentyev, who was convicted three years ago of inciting hartred against police.

Terentyev was the first person in Russia to face a conviction based on a blog comment. The activist maintains that his actions were not illegal.

"I didn't recognize, and I still do not recognize, that it was a violation of the law," he said in an interview with the BBC.
