Parks LvNet to establish new company

Jul 13, 2000

RIGA (BNS) - Latvia's Internet provider Parks LvNet will establish a specialized new economy company, Delfi corporation, the company reported.

Delfi will continue to develop Internet portals www.delfi.lv and rus.delfi.lv and to improve other services, including offering to business companies marketing, electronic commerce and payment solutions on the Internet as well as consulting services in respect of various Internet-related problems.

Considering the rapid Internet development in Latvia, Delfi will pay much attention to those Internet-related services which can help business people to develop their companies.

The company has already begun working on development of online shops in line with the best achievements of the cyber-world. Other services to be offered by Delfi will include development of Web sites, Internet marketing projects and installation of software authorizing payments, compiling orders and analysing inquiry statistics.

Parks LvNet, which will soon be registered as Delfi Internet corporation, will also continue to offer Internet access to corporate entities and individuals.

Parks LvNet's current president, Einars Bindemanis, believes that the strategy for development of a company meeting requirements of the so-called 'new economy' was made possible by successful performance in the last fiscal year from July 1999 to June 2000.

Last year Parks LvNet turnover grew by 50 percent to 1.5 million lats.

In the future Bindemanis will work on Internet projects and formation of new economy companies. He will also have a seat on the Delfi council.

Aleksis Orlovs, the board chairman of the newly-established Delfi, believes that Parks LvNet in its growth has reached the stage when specialization is a logic step in further development of the company.

Specialized companies are able to put to full use the latest knowledge and technologies available in the relevant branch in order to satisfy clients' requirements in detail and to provide Delfi customers with top-quality Internet services.

The new Delfi unit will allow companies to grow stronger and, consequently, obtain over $1 million in investments, Orlovs said.

Delfi Internet head Vitalijs Mozerts, who currently holds the position of technical director, said a specialized Internet provider will be able to serve the ever growing number of Internet users with greater efficiency.

On some days, the number of pages viewed in both portals - www.delfi.lv and rus.delfi.lv - reaches about 300,000.
