Gulbis blows out in Serbia

BELGRADE, Serbia– Latvian Ernests Gulbis has blown out at the Serbia Open, losing to unheralded Ukrainian Illya Marchenko in the opening round. Granted a wildcard entry to the event to go along with a sixth seeding, Gulbis showed none of the form that had been on display in Monaco a fortnight ago, losing in straight sets 2-6 4-6. Ranked 108 in the world, Marchenko should have provided few problems for his Latvian opponent but Gulbis was at his erratic best, serving at just 51% and managing to save just one of four break points. ...
