VILNIUS -- Popular comic book "The SImpsons" has suspended publication in Lithunia after the company was issued a fine for advertising "Duff" beer.

The advertising authority in the country issued a 10,000 Litas fine -- nearly 3,000 euros -- on the grounds that there is a real beer called "Duff" sold in numerous European and South American countries. The real beer is unaffiliated with the cartoon version.

The company reportedly decided to suspend publication of the comic until it could find a way to publish without violating the country's strict alcohol advertisement laws.
