Farmers want year classified as disaster

TALLINN - Farmers have called on the government to declare 1998 a disaster after having suffered heavy losses as a result of bad weather. Rain and storms have hit the farming industry hard, causing an estimated 6.3 million kroons ($450,000) worth of losses to cooperatives, individuals and local governments.
