Unibanka to issue eurobonds

Jun 22, 2000

RIGA (BNS) - Latvijas Unibanka is launching an intermediate-term
eurobonds program with the total volume of $400 million, to be quoted
on Luxembourg's stock exchange, Unibanka spokesman Haralds
Burkovskis told BNS.

He said Unibanka, which is the biggest commercial bank in Latvia in
terms of capitalization, "confirms its intention to launch an
intermediate-term eurobonds program with a fixed yield of return
(Euro-Medium Term Note Program)".

The program coordination and general management of the first bond
emission will be done by Germany's biggest bank, Deutsche Bank.
Banks and financial institutions for the bond program's dealer group
will be picked soon.

Burkovskis said Unibanka has big maneuvering possibilities in this
eurobonds program, as the bank can opt for taking out resources in
various currencies as well as on different terms ranging between five
and 10 years.

He said the bank will be able to order eurobonds to be issued at any
time it is in need of financial resources.

It is not yet known when the first emission will be issued as part of
the eurobonds program.

Unibanka is the second biggest bank in Latvia in terms of assets. Its
shares are quoted on the Riga Stock Exchange as well as on London and
Berlin stock exchanges.
