TALLINN - Estonia and four other countries have suspended their carbon trading systems after hackers infiltrated the European Emissions Trading System, stealing millions in credits.

Hackers stole 38 million euros in carbon credits earlier this week, causing Estonia, France, Austria and the Czech Republic to shut down their carbon trading registries.

"Estonia closed is register yesterday, after learning that allowances went missing from an account in the Czech register, in order to avoid future incidents," Ministry of the Environment representative Jürgen Talkop told uudised.err.ee.
