A poll among readers of the newspaper The Baltic Times and visitors of www.baltictimes.com entitled “The Best Restaurant in the Baltic States”, which started on October 25th, ended on November 20th. The main objectives of the survey were to compile the views of the readers on the restaurant business in the Baltics, as well as to create an information environment that promotes tourism in the Baltic republics.

We have asked our readers to speak out about the work of restaurants according to several criteria. Those were: atmosphere and interior, organization of services; the ability of staff to solve problem situations; the menu, kitchen and wine list; additional services for customers.

It should be noted that the votes of our readers were very evenly distributed among the survey participants and the final numbers differed only by tenths of a percent. However, based on the comments received from our readers, the title of “The best Latvian national cuisine restaurant” was awarded to the restaurant “Palete.” Restaurant “Trattoria del Popolo” was unanimously voted as “The best Italian food restaurant in Riga.” Restaurant “Renommé” was named “The best place for the gourmet.” “Piano” was the restaurant where the best business lunch is offered. Restaurant “le Dome” was awarded as “The best fish restaurant in Latvia,” and the restaurant “Desiderata” was recognized as “The best in customer service.”

In Lithuania, restaurant “Verres en Vers” in Radisson Blu Astorija was named “The best restaurant with European cuisine.” According to our readers, the best interior can be found in the restaurant “Narutis,” and the hotel complex “Vanagupe” was awarded as “The best in service organization of business conferences.”

Congratulations to our participants with nominations and we wish them success and prosperity!
