Finland's YLE to face big cuts under Kivinen's leadership -TV1

Lauri Kivinen, the new director-general of the Finnish Broadcasting Company (YLE), said in an interview on the public-service broadcaster's TV1 that YLE needs to make significant cuts.

The broadcaster has increased its supply of programmes over the last decades but can no longer afford to uphold operations at their current level.

However, Kivinen does not want to start cuts immediately, and instead insists on efficiency in operations and ensuring that the company focuses its energy in the right place.
