VILNIUS - Lithuania's Minister of Transport and Communication Eligijus Masiulis has survived a vote of no-confidence, winning widespread support despite earlier speculation among many analysts that the move could prove to be a success.

Masiulis won the support of 73 MPs, while 49 voted in favor of ousting him from office and 14 abstained.

"The results of the voting showed what we’ve been trying to say – the interpellation was based not on relevant accusations but on attempts to dislocate the current ruling bloc," the transport minister told reporters after the vote.
