TALLINN - The results of a recent poll released by the Estonian Ministry of Science and Education has found that students entering universities in the country are woefully unprepared in terms of language.

The results suggested that as many as one-fifth of university students entering their first year do not speak the national language well enough to manage the course work.

Language remains a hot topic in Estonia, which is regularly chastized by the EU and human rights organizations for the number of stateless people who do not speak the national language.
