OAKLAND - Latvian basketball player Andris Biedrins is on the verge of setting a grim new record in the US National Basketball Association.

The Latvian ball player looks like he will set the record for worst free-throw accuracy rate in history at just 16 percent. He is currently having stomach problems and will likely miss the rest of the season.

The former record holder was is held by Garfield Smith of the Boston ''Celtics'' in the 1971-72 season, who managed to make just over 19 percent.
