VILNIUS - The "Law on the protection of minors" came into effect this week, albeit in an edited format that removed some of the more highly criticized passages.
The law had received widespread criticism from human rights groups and the EU for a set of passages that were deemed homophobic.
Lithuanian parliament removed the clauses but kept the overall theme of the law.
