TALLINN - Estonian authorities have expressed concern over the Russian purchase of a French amphibious assault warship.

"If the French finally sell it [the warship], we should consider security measures to be taken in case the ship is deployed in the Baltic Sea," Commander-in-Chief of the Estonian Defense Forces Ants Laaneots was quoted by Russian news agency RIA Novosti as saying.

Russian military authorities inspected the ship, which is reportedly worth between 400 and 500 million euros, in St. Petersburg on Nov. 23.
