Lithuanians see Communist times with nostalgia

Nov 03, 2009
Oskars Magone

VILNIUS - A recent survey has found that approximately half of Lithuanians think that life was better under the Soviet Union than it is now, alfa.lt reports.

The survey, which was conducted by the Pew Research Center, found that almost half  - 48 percent - of Lithuanians think that the economic times were better under the communist regime than they are now.

Another 15 percent think that the economic situation is about the same, and 23 percent think that it has improved since 1991.

The survey polled 1,000 Lithuanians and took place in September.
