Latvian president will award Bill Gates

RIGA - The medallic chapter by the presidential chancellery has decided to award 102 people 's public figures, musicians, teachers, doctors, military men 's on the 18th of November.

According to the presidents press-secretary Ilze Rassa, that this year will not be so rich for awards, as the last year. In the year 2008, the medallic chapter has made a decision to award 151 people, which was mostly connected with the state keeping its 90thbirthday.

This year, among others, the State awards will go to the head of the Latvian autonomy union Andris Jaunsleinis, actress Rezija Kalnina, the musician Zigfrid Muktupavels, the chairman of the JSC "Latvijas gāze" Adrian Davis, the former Interior Minister Aloizs Vaznis, as well as to the philantropists Bill and Melinda Gates.

The awards will be handed on the ceremony, which will take place in the Riga Castle on the threshold of the 18th of November
