The unemployment rate will continue to grow

RIGA - Judging bythe current forecasts of the Welfare Ministry, next year  the average level of unemployment in Latviacan reach the mark of 15%.

In other words, the economical situation in Latvia probablywill not improve in 2010. By the end of 2009, the level of the registered unemploymentcan rise up to 16.4%. That means that around 180,000 people will be out ofwork.

As a result, the government is planning toexpand the self-management program, under which several people will be involvedin the social work. For such work, one will receive 100 lats (141 euros)payment, which can be a healthy support in the current situation.

As earlier mentioned in mass media, the presentlevel of unemployment in Latviahas grown up to 13.2% from the economically active part of the population,which is by 0.9% more, then in august.

The chairman of the Government Agency ofEmployment Dainis Jukonis mentions that the amount of people registered in theagency in the beginning of September was 137,586, when in the end of the monthit has risen to 147,754 people. Within a month the amount of unemployed peoplehas grown up by 10,168 people or 7.4%. 

Together with that, in the September 2009 thestatus of unemployed person was given to 22,779 people, which is by 6,358people or 38.7% more, then in the August 2009.

The lowestunemployment rate is in Tukums district 's 9.0 %, in Ventspils district 's 9.6%,  in Riga district 's 10.5%, in Daugavpils district 's 10.8%, in Jurmala 's11.3%, in Jelgava 's 11.7% , and the highest unemployment level is in Rezekne 's28.1%, in Ludza 's 24.4%, in Kraslava 's 20.2%, Kuldiga district 's 19.6%, Preili district 's 19.5%, in Balvi district 's18.0%.
