RIGA- The highly-anticipated parade of blondes in Riga, involved upwards of 500 blonde beauties rallying to raise funds for disabled children's playgrounds. Following an orchestra, the blondes followed Mrs. Universe (Latvia) through OldTown where they were transported by convertibles to Mols shopping center for a fashion show.

The event not only drew hundreds of participants, but also international media and blonde fans eager to get a gander at the pink, white and red clad blondes.

The event is the first of its kind in Latvia, but as organizer Marika Gederte of the Latvian Blondes Association says, they are just getting started and next year will be even bigger.

Among the parade participants were also a bevy of lapdogs tottering alongside the clacking stilettos.

The Blonde Association is also rallying to make May 31, National Blonde's Day.
