Lithuania’s newly elected head of state, Dalia Grybauskaite, is a morally upright woman who is fiercely loyal to kith and kin.
How can I know this with such ironclad certainty? I’m just applying the logic of a group of several dozen prominent Lithuanian linguists, academics, and culture vultures who caused a stir a couple of weeks ago by imploring lawmakers to rescind 2006 rules that allow women to use a maritally neutral surname suffix.
