If all goes according to plan, Latvia will soon have a new government to replace the remarkably venal one that was led first by Latvia's self-proclaimed "guarantor of stability," Aigars Kalvitis, and then by the country's chief technocrat, Ivars Godmanis. Should the people of Latvia be optimistic about this fact beyond a simple sigh of relief?
