The four men, Dmitry Linter, Maxim Reva, Dimitry Klensky and Mark Siryk claimed they organized the riot as a reaction to the Estonian government’s decision to move the Bronze soldier monument.
Klensky, belonging to an activist group called Night Watch, had distributed materials to incite the events of April 26-27. Several of his phone calls had been decoded to show that he had spoken to his compatriots and Russian journalists of the events beforehand.
The four men were accused of masterminding the riots in Tallinn in April 2007 and were to face five years in prison.
After a year of trials, the activities are now at a close. Prosecutors ran into
difficulties gathering sufficient evidence based on emails and telephone calls.
At the time of the riots, 1,000 people were detained by police and about 200 arrested.
