RIGA - As many as 2,208 dancers from 99 dancegroups have attempted to break the Guiness record for the longest dance.
The number of participant was larger than planned, and the record has now theoretically been beaten. However, judges still have to review photo and video evidence to confirm that the dance was, in fact, a record-breaker.
The dance lasted from 12:03 pm for five minutes and 14 seconds, with eachparticipant taking 768 steps. The dance was performed in eight groupsof couples.
The previous longest dance record was achieved on September 25, 2007 inHong Kong with participation of 1,048 people.
