Troops to be pulled from Iraq by end of 2008

HOME AT LAST: The last few remaining Latvian soldiers serving in Iraq are due to return home in December.
RIGA - Latvia is planning to withdraw its troops from Iraq by the end of 2008, Latvian Defense Minister Vinets Veldre said, citing the steady decline of violence there. “The situation in this country is returning to normal. The number of terror acts there has decreased by 80 percent over the past year,” the minister said.
