Victims' relatives demand compensation

RIGA (BNS) - The relatives of the people killed in Jelgava earlier this year by a drunken police officer have demanded more than 100,000 lats ($169,500) in compensation, the prosecutor general's office announced.The plaintiffs have also asked the courts to recognize the Interior Ministry as culpable too, since the gunman, Dairis Filipovs, was an off-duty security officer.
