Chief prosecutor in Vilnius attacked
VILNIUS- The senior prosecutor of the Vilnius Country Prosecutor’s office has been attacked and beaten on the street outside his home, the Lithuanian-language daily Lietuvos Rytas reported on Wednesday.
Ramutis Jancevicius was reportedly attacked in the early hours of the morning in a residential zone after asking three men not to urinate in a public place. The men recorded the attack on their mobile phone.
“I told them I was a prosecutor but they did not believe my
words,” Jancevicius was quoted by the daily as saying.
A passerby called the police after witnessing the attack. Police managed to apprehend all three of the men. The attackers were found to be under the influence of alcohol.
