Drunk Russian swims border
TALLINN-Estonian authorities are baffled by the case of a 45 year-old Russian man found drunk after swimming across the border illegally into the Schengen zone.Claiming to have lost his passport, the man, in trying to get back to his home in Sillamae, an Estonian border town, swam across the river Narva in hopes of getting across.
The 150 meter wide river separates Russia from Estonia and a bridge serves as border control point.
The majority of those in the town of Narva along the river are Russian speakers who cross the border daily for shopping or work on the other side.
The man will not be prosecuted but may be slapped with a fine for illegally crossing the border zones say officials.
