VILNIUS- The first team of medical personnel in the Lithuanian-led Ghor Provincial Reconstruction Team are coming home after completing a three-month long mission in Afghanistan.

Working with local personnel, the team in the GhorProvince as well as Lithuanian troops provided medical aid and much needed supplies to the hospital in the region, Chagcharan.

"I am glad having a chance to work with Lithuanian medics. I was observing the people of GhorProvince throughout the three months of our mutual work. Therefore, I am absolutely sure that people of the province trust you. Sometimes it seems that it is enough for our people just to visit your medics, consult them, talk with them, and their illnesses decrease and pain soothes", stated the head of ChaghcharanHospital told Alfa news

PRT-7 medical team of six Lithuanian medics started the mission in Afghanistan in May, and will be replaced by a new round of medics soon. The Lithuanian PRT mission began in June of 2005 to aid the Afghanistan government in reconstruction.

PRT, a Lithuanian-led joint civil and military mission, is a part of NATO International Security Assistance Force, ISAF.
