If anyone needs reminding that the Baltics are immensely better off free of Russia, they should take a look at the war in Chechnya. The contrast between three small countries steadily implementing democracy and the rule of law, and a giant state using its power to slaughter civilians and manipulate public opinion, could not be greater.
