NEW YORK - When United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon launched the year long commemoration of the 60th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights  on December 10, 2007 (Human Rights Day), he said that “in a world still reeling from the horrors of World War II, the Declaration was the first global statement of what we now take for granted – the inherent dignity and equality of all human beings.” The U.N.
