RIGA – Failing a last-minute compromise tomorrow Latvia's public school teachers plan to strike region by region beginning Monday, the next step in a fight for pay increases and education reforms that prompted the Minister of Education and Welfare to resign last week.Teacher's union officials were scheduled to meet with Latvia's prime minister and president Friday, the day teachers in the southwest region of Kurzeme were to strike in protest of low teachers' salaries and delayed education reform ...
