Baltic Sea to become more competitive

On 9 April, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic ofLithuania Petras Vaitiekūnas participated at the Nordic-Baltic meeting(NB6) in Stockholm to discuss important issues of the future of the EU and the Baltic Searegion.

Lithuanian head of diplomacy expressed his belief  that the BalticSea strategy which is currently being drafted by the EuropeanCommission would be a proper instrument to help the Baltic Sea region to becomeone of the most competitive and attractive regions in the world.

The ministers also discussed the Lisbon process and readiness of thecountries to face the main challenges 's the growing competitionand climate change.

In the opinion of P.VaitiekÅ«nas, a well functioning EU's internalmarket should be created by abolishing the remaining  barriers to thefree movement of goods, services and persons.
