Latvian Transport Minister Ainars Slesers survived a vote of no-confidence by parliament today, despite an overwhelming number of complaints against him regarding breaching the Transport Ministry's budget expenditure.
The total parliamentary vote included 25 members voting to oust Slesers, 49 against and 16 abstained.

The New Era party firmly believes that Slesers is responsible for Latvijas Pasts (Latvian Post) being at near bankruptcy levels, and that he should resign.

NewEra went on to say that Slesers' unprofessional actions, contribute to additional expenses fortaxpayers. The State Audit Office indicated substantialbreaches in the Transport Ministry's budget expenditure in their recent audit of the Transport Ministry, for which Slesers as minister is responsible.

Asreported by the LETA news agency, "Latvijas Pasts" concluded last year with losses estimated atLVL 12 million, and LVL 10 million in losses are planned in the budgetof this year.
