January 25: Latvia's passenger train company, Pasazieru Vilciens (Passenger Train), has appointed a new board chairman, its representatives announced. The council of Pasazieru Vilciens, a subsidiary of the state-run Latvijas Dzelzcels (Latvian Railway) company, appointed Reinholds Pelse to the post. Pelse is a former advisor to Transport Minister Ainars Slesers and has been on the company's board since September 2007.
