Flu takes a grip on Latvia

RIGA -- An influenza epidemic has begun in Latvia, Elina Sprude-Nesenberga from the Public Health Agency told the LETA news agency on Jan. 29.Accordingto the Public Health Agency's data, 153 flu cases per 100,000 residentswere registered in Latvia last week. The epidemic threshold is 100infections per 100,000 residents.The agency warned that the epidemic is likely to keep spreading for about two weeks.
