BUSINESS CYCLE: Active lobbying and heavy traffic have made bike messenger services a popular solution in Riga. Not so in Tallinn and Vilnius.
TALLINN - In cities across the world, messages move by pedal power. Bicycle couriers are a familiar sight in many metropolises, but it seems not all Baltic cities have taken to the charm of the cycling messenger.
In Riga they are the document delivery service of choice, while in Tallinn and Vilnius they are somewhat of a rarity.
City planning, technological advances and attitudes toward cyclists could all explain why the bicycle courier has only taken off in Riga.
