Do as we say, not as we do…

RIGA - Latvian Prime Minister Aigars Kalvitis is to ask the Latvian Economics Ministry to explain how it managed to blow more than 10,000 lats (14,000 euros) on its summer sports day at a time when official policy is to tell the public to tighten belts and reduce their extravagant levels of consumer spedning.

The ministry invited Latvia's biggest band, Brain Storm, to perform at the event. Even though the band did not demand a fee for playing, the rental costs of their concert gear helped contribute to the wallet-busting cost of the fun day.
