RIGA - The impact of new President Valdis Zatlers may be less than he had hoped for, if the results of a new poll are to be believed.

Despite being recognised by more than 99 percent of those questioned, the majority 's 54 percent 's were not prepared to classify him in either a positive or negative way.

As many as 28.9 percent assessed his activities as positive or partly positive, and 16.2 percent as negative or partly negative.

People from Kurzeme and eastern region of Latgale were most supportive of the new president, while the least support came from the central region of Vidzeme.
