Lithuanian magicians Arvydas and Diana Gaiciunai have broken the world record for not breathing under water.

The brother and sister team achieved the new record on Saturday June 16 in Druskininkai aqua park during an experiment called Alive Without Air.

LNK television reported that Graiciunaite stayed under water without breathing for 11 minutes and 7 seconds.

Until now the female woman record was considered to be the achievement of Natalija Molcanova, who held her breath 8 minutes and 30 seconds.

Graiciunas freed himself from chains under water 4 minutes and 50 seconds later – a total period of 15 minutes and 57 seconds. He broke the record of Canada's magician Robert Foster, who stayed under water without breathing for 13 minutes and 43 seconds over fifty years ago.

Several years ago the magicians broke the record of he famous American magician David Blaine by being locked in ice for more than 63 hours.
