RIGA - Rupert Murdoch's global media empire entered the Baltic market after News Corp Europe recently acquired two Latvian television stations for an undisclosed sum. News Corp Europe, a subsidiary of News Corporation, acquired a 100 percent stake in Latvian Independent Television and a 70 percent stake in TV5. According to Dienas Bizness, a Latvian language daily, the deal took place May 8 and has an estimated value of 18.5 million lats (26.4 million euros).
