Russia is working on a specific reaction to the removal of the monument to Red Army soldiers in Tallinn, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Mikhail Kamynin said on April 27.

"Once again we can characterize the actions of official Tallinn as blasphemous and inhuman, especially considering the fact that the monument was removed on the eve of Victory Day," the spokesman was quoted by Interfax news agency as saying.

"We are working at a reaction to that fact," he said, adding that the "actions of the Estonian authorities unambiguously require serious consideration on the part of international organizations and the public."

"In this one should not forget that about half of Estonians were resolutely against the monument's removal," Kamynin said.

Russia has been a harsh critic of Estonia's plans to remove the controversial Red Army monument, with Duma members regularly painting those who supported its removal as neo-fascists.
