Wood is as good as gold for Lithuania

VILNIUS - In February, Giriu Bizonas completed construction of a new 58 million euro woodchip-board plant in southern Lithuania. The project was a hallmark for the Baltics in that it was accomplished in record time and represents one of the largest EU-funded projects in the region. The plant, described by Giriu Bizonas CEO Laimas Devetinas as "the most advanced" of its kind in the Baltics, has an output capacity of 460,000 cubic meters of woodchip board (known as particle board in the United States), or approximately 1 percent of annual consumption in Europe.
