VILNIUS - Built with EU financial resources, a new post of the State Border Guard Service was opened on the EU external wall with Russia in Neringa on Thursday.
The EU has granted 4 million litas (EUR 1.15 million) under the Shengen measure programme to install a modern border crossing point on the border with Russia's Kaliningrad enclave.
The border point has radar equipment to watch the Baltic Sea and the Curonian Lagoon and will also perform the function of coordinating operations on rescuing people and ships.
