RIGA 's The lines of trucks waiting at crossing points on the Latvian-Russian border have shrunk for about 200 trucks, the Latvian State Border Guard said.
After 9 a.m. on Feb. 1, there were about 320 trucks queuing at Terehovo crossing point, while in Grebnevo there were no queues at all. Although on Jan. 31, the number of trucks waiting at the border exceeded 500.
Juris Dombrovskis, chairman of the regional authority of the eastern Latvian county of Ludza, said it will be discussed later this week whether to declare the state of emergency. It can, indeed, be announced, if the number of trucks exceeds 600-700, which would impede road maintenance.
