Record low turnout predicted for municipal elections

VILNIUS - A record high number of candidates have registered for Lithuania's Feb. 25 municipal elections, but experts warn that this year's polls may very well see their lowest ever turnout.Twenty-four parties of the 37 registered in Lithuania will participate in next month's municipal elections, Election Commission Director Zenonas Vaigauskas said on Jan. 23, the day after candidates' registration ended."This is an interesting tendency, which may suggest that more people are not afraid to assume responsibility.
