Study shows kids use Internet for dating, games

RIGA - Children in Latvia mainly use the Internet to visit dating portals and play computer games, shows a new study carried out by the Secretariat of the Special Assignments Minister for E-affairs.
According to the study, the largest part - about 62 percent – of children surveyed use the Internet for visiting various dating portals, while 57 percent play mostly games on the Internet.
About 38 percent of children use the Internet for their studies, and 50 percent for research.
The study shows that more than half (54 percent) of teachers surveyed believe that children face or might face emotional violence on the Internet.
The study surveyed 1,092 parents, computer and primary school teachers and children aged 13-18 across Latvia.
